Signal: Chat Engaged
Last updated: April 14, 2026
Note: This is only available on a paid Warmly plan
The Chat Engaged signal automatically triggers when an identified website visitor interacts with your Warmly chat widget, either by sending a message or clicking a link during a session.
Most visitors leave your site without converting. But the ones who engage with your chat? They’re showing clear, high intent.
The Chat Engaged signal helps you capitalize on that intent in real time:
Follow up instantly — reach out minutes after engagement, not hours later
Keep conversations seamless — route follow-ups to the same rep who handled the chat
Capture every warm lead — even if no one was available to respond live
Once triggered, it can instantly kick off an automated outreach sequence—including email, CRM, webhooks, and more—so your team can follow up at exactly the right moment.
Before you start
Make sure you have:
The Warmly chat widget live on your website (have an active chat workflow)
The Chat Engaged signal enabled for your account (your CSM can confirm)
A clear follow-up plan (email, LinkedIn, CRM task, or a combination)
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Setup a Chat Engaged Orchestration
Navigate to Outbound Agent in Warmly.
Click + New Orchestration (or open an existing one).
Choose Chat Engaged under Website Activity
Step 2: Define your audience (optional)
Add filters to target specific visitors, such as:
Target accounts
Industries
Company size
Chat Engagement filters under 1st Party signal
If left blank, the signal will trigger for any identified visitor who engages with chat.
Step 3: Build your outreach sequence
Add the actions you want to trigger after engagement. Common examples:
Email → Send a personalized follow-up
CRM → Create/Update a record in Salesforce or HubSpot
Webhook → Send to Zapier or Clay and trigger internal workflows
Step 4: Activate your orchestration
Toggle your orchestration to Active.
From this point on, any identified visitor who engages with your chat will automatically enter the sequence.
Use cases
Here are a few practical ways to use the Chat Engaged signal:
Warm follow-up from the right rep
A prospect asks a question in chat. Automatically assign a follow-up task to the same rep, so the conversation continues naturally.
Capture after-hours intent
A visitor engages late at night. Trigger an automated email the next morning so the lead doesn’t go cold.
Prioritize high-intent actions
A prospect clicks a pricing link in chat. Route them into a high-priority sequence for immediate outreach.
